Bay of Islands Airport recently opened its gates for a special Whānau Day celebration, welcoming Far North Holdings staff and their families for an afternoon of fun, connection and community.

Held on Saturday 9th May, the event brought together team members from across the organisation to enjoy a relaxed family day at the airport. Activities included a sausage sizzle, games, face painting, bubbles and the chance for children and families to explore the airport’s newly introduced fire appliances up close.

One of the highlights of the afternoon was rides in the airport fire trucks, which were officially launched last year as part of ongoing investment into airport safety and operations. The new appliances provided a unique experience for families while also showcasing an important part of the airport’s emergency response capability.

The event reflected Far North Holdings’ strong focus on people, culture and community, providing an opportunity for staff and whānau to connect outside of the workplace and celebrate the important role the airport plays within the wider Far North region.

As one of the region’s key transport hubs, Far North Holdings continues to invest not only in infrastructure and operations, but also in creating positive experiences for its team and local community at Bay of Islands Airport.
