Far North Holdings is proud to see strong progress continuing on Te Āta Haere, the transformational project bringing the new Kaikohe Library and Civic Hub to life.
With roof installation and exterior cladding now underway, the project has entered another significant phase as this landmark development continues to take shape in the heart of Kaikohe.
Following the completion of the exterior framework, roof structure and verandah framing in March, work is now advancing quickly across multiple areas of the build. Internal services are well underway, with upcoming stages including interior lining, aluminium joinery installation, completion of exterior cladding, and the beginning of carpark construction.
Far North Holdings Project Manager Hori Tane says the project is continuing to build strong momentum.
“The roof and cladding stage mark an important milestone in this journey. Seeing the hub continue to take shape is incredibly rewarding, as this development has been carefully designed to reflect the needs of the local community while creating a vibrant space that offers something for everyone.”
Once complete, the Kaikohe Library and Civic Hub will provide a dynamic multi-purpose space focused on learning, connection and creativity. Facilities will include library collections, a creative Maker Space for young people, meeting rooms, a gaming room, recording booth and café.

Located prominently on the corner of Broadway and Raihara Street, the facility is set to become a major community asset and a significant addition to Kaikohe’s town centre.
Upon completion later this year, local hapū Te Uri-o-Hua, Te Takotoke and Ngāti Kura will gift the official name for the completed facility.
Te Āta Haere, the name gifted for the construction project itself, began in August 2025 following detailed design approval earlier that year.
The $14.6 million investment reflects a long-term commitment to strengthening Kaikohe’s future through community infrastructure that supports connection, opportunity and growth.
